Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Vedya mobile application and related web services. By installing or using Vedya, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service

Vedya delivers a daily verse from Hindu scriptures, primarily the Bhagavad Gita, in ten Indian languages. It includes a verse reader, an audio library of aartis and mantras (Vedya Dhwani), streaks, sharing, and related features. Vedya is a tool for personal reflection. Nothing in the Service is medical, legal, financial, or psychiatric advice.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Vedya (16 in some EU countries). By using the Service you represent that you meet this minimum age. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

Your account

Vedya does not require you to create an account. The Service is associated with the device you install it on, identified by an anonymous device ID. If you uninstall the app, your local data is deleted from that device. Subscription entitlements may be restored on the same Apple ID or Google account using the in-app Restore Purchases option.

Vedya Pro plans

Vedya offers three paid plans, collectively called Vedya Pro. Vedya Pro Monthly is an auto-renewing subscription billed monthly. Vedya Pro Yearly is an auto-renewing subscription billed annually. Vedya Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase with no recurring charge. Prices are shown in your local currency at the moment of purchase, inclusive of any applicable taxes Apple or Google collect on our behalf.

3-day free trial

Monthly and Yearly plans include a 3-day free trial for first-time customers. Your selected plan begins billing immediately at the end of the trial unless you cancel before the trial ends. If you cancel during the trial you will not be charged. You are eligible for a free trial only once per Apple ID (across the subscription group) and once per Google account.

Auto-renewal and cancellation

Monthly and Yearly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using your Apple ID or Google account, at the then-current price for your region. You will be charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time. On iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Vedya. On Android: Google Play app → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Vedya. Cancelling stops the next renewal but does not refund the current period — you keep Vedya Pro until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

Lifetime

The Lifetime plan grants access to all current Vedya Pro features and to features we add in the future to the Pro tier. It is a one-time, non-refundable purchase except where required by law.

Refunds

Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies. For Apple: https://reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google: https://play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory. We cannot directly refund a purchase made through the App Store or Google Play.

Price changes

If we change the price of an auto-renewing plan, the new price will apply only after we have given you reasonable notice — at minimum, the notice period required by Apple or Google in your region. You can cancel before the new price takes effect.

License to use Vedya

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Vedya on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app; reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code (except where this restriction is prohibited by applicable law); use the Service to build a competing product; use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service; or resell, redistribute, or sublicense any part of the Service or its content.

Content and intellectual property

The Sanskrit verses themselves are part of the public domain. The Vedya app, its user interface, the curation and organization of verses, the translations we commission, the explanations we write, the audio recordings we license or produce, the visual design, and the Vedya brand are all our property and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. When you share a verse card from Vedya, you may share it freely on personal social channels with the Vedya watermark intact. Commercial use, removal of the watermark, or use of more than 25 cards per month requires written permission.

Your reflections

Reflections and notes you write inside Vedya are stored on your device and are private to you. We do not access them. If a future version of Vedya offers cloud sync of reflections, that feature will be opt-in and governed by an updated version of these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer

Vedya is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The teachings shared inside Vedya are for personal reflection. They are not professional advice. If you are facing a medical, mental health, legal, or financial concern, consult a qualified professional. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vedya, its officers, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us for Vedya in the twelve months preceding the claim, or ₹1,000, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Vedya against any claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us to legal liability. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and an opportunity to cure the breach. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app. Cancelling an active subscription does not require notice to us — manage it through Apple or Google as described above.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Where the change is material — for example, a change to subscription terms or to your refund rights — we will notify you inside the app the next time you open it. Continued use after a material change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of Bengaluru, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the protection of the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, and nothing here deprives you of those rights.
